Breathwork

Breathe. Release. Return.

At Varches, we honour the breath as the bridge between body and mind – a quiet force that supports calm, clarity, and self-regulation. Our breathwork therapy offerings are designed to gently guide you back to your body and yourself.

Breathwork with Purpose

This is not a trend. This is therapy, rooted in science, delivered with care.

Led by a Level 3 CPCAB-qualified practitioner, our breathwork sessions are science-informed, trauma-sensitive, and intentionally gentle.

We focus on building a strong foundation – the kind of breathwork that supports the nervous system, grounds the body, and prepares the mind for deeper exploration in the future.

Why We Start with the Foundations

In recent years, more intense breathwork styles (like dynamic breathing or holotropic breathwork) have grown in popularity. While these can be transformative when delivered safely, we believe it’s essential to start with awareness, regulation, and education.

Rushing into advanced techniques without a foundation can cause:
– Emotional overwhelm
– Nervous system dysregulation
– Re-traumatisation
– Resistance or fear toward future practice

At Varches, we choose a safe, steady path. We hold space for healing – not overstimulation. By helping clients feel safe in their breath, we lay the groundwork for any future inner work they may wish to explore.

A Growing Wellness Path

We are in the process of expanding our breathwork offering to include
– Soundbath healing
– Mindfulness integration
– Combined workshops & retreats

These additions will gently support the nervous system and provide deeper layers of healing over time.

Is Breathwork Right for You?

Breathwork may support:

– Anxiety or overwhelm
– Emotional release
– Sleep issues or low energy
– Disconnection from the body
– Pre/postnatal wellbeing
– Or simply… a desire to feel better

Breathwork Care Guide

Breathe. Release. Reconnect.

Breathwork is a gentle yet powerful practice that helps you release stress, calm your mind, and restore balance from within. Here’s everything you need to know before and after your session.

Pre-Treatment Advice

To prepare for your breathwork journey:

– Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, or alcohol before your session.
– Wear comfortable clothing that allows free breathing.
– Stay hydrated, but don’t drink too much water right before starting.
– Set an intention — decide what you’d like to release or focus on.
– Arrive with an open mind and heart — each experience is unique.
– Inform your facilitator about any health conditions or medications.

Aftercare Tips

Your breathwork session can continue to unfold for hours or days afterwards — be gentle with yourself.

Right after your session:
– Take time to rest, stretch, or journal about your experience.
– Drink plenty of water or herbal tea to stay hydrated.
– Avoid rushing back into work or social activities if possible.
– Eat a light, nourishing meal to ground your energy.

Over the next 24 hours:
– You may feel deeply relaxed, emotional, or uplifted — all are normal.
– Spend time in nature or quiet reflection to integrate the experience.
– Continue gentle breathing or meditation to stay connected.
– Prioritise sleep and hydration.

Pro Tip: Consistency enhances results. Combine breathwork with mindfulness, journaling, or yoga for powerful inner transformation and lasting calm.

FAQs

Breathwork is a guided breathing practice that uses conscious, rhythmic breathing to help you release emotional tension, improve mental clarity, and reconnect with your body’s natural flow.

Regular breathwork sessions can help you:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety, great to help combat exam stress, job interview nerves
  • Improve focus and sleep quality
  • Boost energy and circulation
  • Support emotional release and inner peace
  • Enhance mindfulness and self-awareness

Your facilitator will guide you through specific breathing techniques, often accompanied by calming music and gentle relaxation cues. You’ll breathe in a rhythmic pattern while staying aware of physical or emotional sensations that arise.

Most sessions last 45–75 minutes, including time to settle in and reflect afterwards.

Even one session can make a big difference! For ongoing benefits, try breathwork weekly or biweekly — consistency helps deepen your results and self-awareness. We would recommend home practice twice a day to start with 10 minutes building up to 20 minutes.

Breathwork is suitable for most people. However, if you have a history of severe anxiety, heart or respiratory issues, epilepsy, or are pregnant, please inform your facilitator so adjustments can be made.

You may experience tingling, warmth, lightness, or emotional release — this is your body’s natural way of processing and rebalancing energy. Many people finish feeling lighter, calm, and deeply relaxed.

Breathwork supports wellbeing but isn’t a substitute for medical or psychological care. It complements other healing and wellness practices beautifully.
